Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Do I need a referral to access services?

No you don’t need referral from somewhere else e.g. GP. You can reach out via the ‘contact me’ form and we can set up a 15 min non-obligatory phone call and if you decide to go ahead with my services.

Q

Do you offer affordable counselling to those in low income?

Yes. I offer a limited number of spaces for students or those on low income for a limited period. Normally 12 to 15 sessions depending on the presenting issues.

Q

Do you have special training?

Yes. My degree was in integrative counselling giving an overview of the four key modalities: Person-centred, CBT, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. I have also undergo Continuing professional development (CPDs) in Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA), Trauma, Diversity, Suicide awareness, Alcohol, and drugs, working online and telephone, Life coaching, anger and aggression, Couples and Family. I love learning and expanding my knowledge; therefore, I will continue to develop in this regard.

Q

What’s the difference between counselling, psychotherapy and life coaching?

Counselling is short-term where the focus may be on particular things and finding solutions. Psychodynamic is long-term process with the focus being on deep-rooted issues. Life coaching guides clients to their ultimate goals helping in different areas of their life’s. I belief there are a few overlaps regarding each, and I combine these to create a unique tailored approach where the whole client is given priority.

Q

Can I bring my kids to a session?

Unfortunately for individual counselling you will need to come alone as the focus will be on you as the client and our best work will be when you are comfortable and relaxed without distractions.

Q

What is the payment policy?

I have a pre-payment policy when booking sessions via card payment system or bank transfer due before each session.

Q

What is the cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy is that you have up to 72 hours (if bi-weekly) or 24 hours (if weekly) before next session to cancel and where possible I will try re-book you for that same week either face-to-face or online. If this is not possible then session will be refunded. If a client is a Did Not Attend (DNA) then payment will not be refunded, if a client has 3 DNAs then a review of our working relationship will take place where we can discuss if you would like to continue therapy or terminate.
